Bio

Maro Abdine is a Research Assistant with the Computational Analysis and Acceleration Research Group (CARG) at the University of Ottawa under the supervision of Professor Miodrag Bolic. He received his Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Computer Engineering from the University of Ottawa in 2025.
His research focuses on the development and deployment of artificial intelligence solutions for embedded and edge computing platforms. His current work involves evaluating computer vision and machine learning models on resource-constrained systems for real-time sensing and perception applications, including human pose estimation and activity recognition. He is particularly interested in bridging machine learning and embedded systems to enable intelligent, low-power, and real-time decision-making at the edge.
In addition to his research activities, Maro has experience in embedded software development, FPGA-based system integration, software validation, test automation, and hardware-software co-design through academic and industry projects.
